Product Description
New twisted pair cable designs are hitting the market to meet the need for higher performance and capacity. But larger cables can be tough to terminate. That's where the patented Platinum Tools 105029 ezEX - RJ45 system connectors come in. This ezEX48 shielded connector with external ground tabs is great for terminating most CAT5/5e/6 cables. It can handle cables with a max overall OD of up to .305' (7.75mm) and conductor OD (including insulation) from 0.43' (1.09mm) to .044' (1.12mm).
The design lets you check the wiring order before crimping. Just remove the cable shielding foil, pull back the drain wire, and wrap it around the cable jacket. After termination, crimp the external ground tabs around the cable and drain wire for a secure ground. The conductors are in a hi - low staggered format, which cuts down on cross - talk and boosts performance. You can crimp and trim the conductors in one go with the 100061C crimp tool.
Key Features:
- Shielded and compliant with CAT5e/6/6A.
- Max cable OD: .305' (7.75mm).
- Conductor OD range (including insulation): 0.39' - 0.44' (1.0mm - 1.12mm).
- Made in USA.
Using this Platinum Tools 105029 ezEX 48 Shielded CAT6A Connector is easy. First, check your cable. Make sure its overall OD is no more than .305' (7.75mm) and the conductor OD (with insulation) is between 0.39' - 0.44' (1.0mm - 1.12mm). Then, before crimping, look at the front end of the connector to confirm the wiring order. Next, remove the cable shielding foil and pull back the drain wire to wrap it around the cable jacket. After you've terminated the connector, use the 100061C crimp tool to crimp the external ground tabs around the cable and drain wire. This gives you a secure ground connection.
When using the connector, always handle it gently. Avoid bending the conductors too much. Also, make sure to use the 100061C crimp tool as other tools may not work as well. For maintenance, keep the connectors in a dry place. If they get dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean them. Don't use any harsh chemicals as they may damage the connector.
