Product Description

The Doug Fleenor Design DMX6REL1A is a remarkable six-channel DMX512 low-voltage unit. It enables DMX512 control of low-voltage switch closure devices like slide projectors and fog machines. There's also a two-channel model available. This unit uses dry contact air-gap relays. Unlike solid-state relays in dimmer packs, air-gap relays don't leak current, ensuring a true off condition with no voltage or current. However, due to their mechanical design, they have a limited lifespan. So, this unit is ideal for applications requiring a true off state but not for rapid on-off switching, such as in chase lights. Technical specs include an input signal of 250 Kilobaud, 0.2 volts minimum and 12 volts maximum. The input circuit has an EIA-485 receiver with two 100 ohm PTC self-resetting fuses and four low-capacitance transient suppression diodes. The input connector is a gold-plated 5-pin male XLR (Neutrik D-1 series), with 3-pin optional. It has a gold-plated 5-pin female XLR input pass-through. The power input is 120 volts, 50/60 hertz, 12 watts (240 Volt Optional). It has a black front, back, top, and sides, with a clear iridite aluminum bottom chassis. It measures 9.0' deep, 1.6' high, 5.6' wide, and weighs 2.7 pounds, with a 19' rack adapter available.

Using the Doug Fleenor Design DMX6REL1A is easy. First, connect your low-voltage switch closure devices like slide projectors or fog machines to the unit. Then, use the gold-plated 5-pin male XLR input connector to connect the DMX512 signal source. You can also use the 3-pin option if needed. The input pass-through allows you to connect other devices in the chain. Plug the unit into a 120-volt, 50/60-hertz power source (240 volts is optional). When using this unit, keep in mind that it's not suitable for applications where it will be turned on and off rapidly, such as chase lights. This is because the air-gap relays have a finite lifespan due to their mechanical design. For maintenance, keep the unit clean and dry. Check the input and power connections regularly to ensure they are secure. If you notice any issues, consult the technical specifications provided to troubleshoot.
